A MAN was brutally assaulted during an attempted robbery last week.

Gihan Jayakadwala, 24, was hospitalised after he was hit over the head by a blundering criminal while another employee looked on in Ottershaw.

Masked raider robs golf club

Foxhills Golf Club was robbed last Wednesday by a masked raider who left a member of staff tied to a chair.

The victim, a 30 year old male member of staff was in the reception area at about 3am when a man dressed entirely in black, wearing a black face mask and black gloves, entered and threw several bags at him.

Police are advising parents to be more considerate when it comes to parking their cars near schools in Ottershaw.

Residents in the roads around Ottershaw C of E Infants and Junior Schools, in Fletcher Road and Fletcher Close, cannot access their driveways and children are at risk of being hurt by inconsiderate drivers.

Officers are stepping up patrols in the area and are urging residents to report any incidents on 0845 125 2222, quoting reference D/08/2645.

Proposed council tax levels for the next financial year have been cut after a last minute decision by Runnymede Council's leader.

Cllr for Addlestone Bourneside John Furey made a speech at a special council meeting on Thursday February 12 where he proposed to cut the tax for a Band D property from £133.11 to £132.93.

A hard-hitting campaign aimed at warning motorists about the potentially fatal consequences of speeding will be launched across Surrey in September.

The "Amy" campaign, developed by the Surrey Safety Camera Partnership, will run for a its second year.
